Lane County Public Health on Wednesday reported 75 confirmed or presumptive cases of COVID-19, raising the countywide case count to 56,317. The total local COVID-19 death count remained at 466.
The virus caused 49 local deaths in the month of February.
Daily case counts have significantly dropped. In the past seven days, there’s been an average of 57 new cases a day. The week before, the average was 117 new cases a day.
There were 274 county residents considered infectious Wednesday, a 6% drop from Tuesday’s 292. The county’s infectious count has stayed the same or declined every day since Feb. 6.
The number of county residents reported hospitalized Wednesday was 45, up 7% from Tuesday’s 42, with 11 in intensive care, up one from Tuesday, and two on a ventilator, unchanged from Tuesday.
Of the 45 people hospitalized, 53.3%, or 24, are not fully vaccinated.
As of Tuesday, 274,879 people in Lane County, 72.08% of the total population, had received first or second vaccine doses with 656,010 first and second doses administered in Lane County, according to the Oregon Health Authority.
